From Peter Pan to Puer Aeternus: The Eternal Child in Us

Seit den 1900er Jahren hat sich ein zunehmender Trend abgezeichnet: Der Trend zur ewigen Jugend. Dieser Trend fällt in den archetypischen Bereich des "puer aeternus". WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK IS THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR VALUES

WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK IS THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR VALUES

Most people don’t need advice.

They need an understanding of themselves.

This will shape their direction in life and provide discernment for their next steps.

Self-knowledge is the voice that says,

“You can”

“This is your way”

“Have a look there”

Self-knowledge nurtures evolution and authenticity.

BOYS PRETENDING TO BE MEN

BOYS PRETENDING TO BE MEN

It's time to face a harsh reality: it’s time to grow up, man.

Growing up is a necessity that many men struggle to accept and understand. Unconsciously.

Since the mid-1900s there is an ever-rising trend observed: The trend of the eternal boy.

A term that was popularized by the Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung.

The eternal boy might look like a man, but his psychology is stuck in boyhood.

IT’S TIME TO COME BACK TO YOURSELF

IT’S TIME TO COME BACK TO YOURSELF

Once you have found the center of the world, everything follows with more certainty, even in the midst of chaos.

The Journey of finding the world's center is a common theme in fiction.

It is a challenging and dangerous journey that requires bravery, skill and strong determination.

The idea of traveling to the center of the world can be seen as a metaphor for finding the source of our psyche.

Some of us embark on such a journey, others decline the call and again others (consciously or unconsciously) believe they found the center outside of themselves.

The Trap That Distracts Us From Meaning

EXPLORING THE WAYS IN WHICH THE SYSTEM ROBS US OF PURPOSE AND FOCUS AND STRATEGIES TO PROTECT OURSELVES FROM SUCH INFLUENCES.

The more I delve into the study of the soul, the more apparent it becomes that our system - education, social environment, attention-based economy, and scientism - creates a greater divide between our true essence and ourselves.

Eternal Patterns That Influence Me

Eternal Patterns That Influence Me

In a world, that honors and promotes growth, it feels like a rebellious act to focus on personal depth. With personal depth, I’m referring to an inner understanding and exploration of our personal emotions, values, beliefs and experiences.

While personal growth, at least what we often see in the personal development sphere, is often cruising on the surface and focuses rather on the desires of the ego, which might never fully still our hunger.

I can’t think my way through it.

I can’t think my way through it.

THE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS THAT KEEP US STUCK.

I can’t think my way through the big questions of life. If I could, it would be already done.

Over the last 10 years, I’m constantly asking myself important questions. I didn’t want to shy away from them, even though attempting to find answers, felt foolish and naive. And somehow I always knew that I will not be able to find an ultimate answer. At least not through thinking.

Following my fascination to deepen my experience

Have you ever been so obsessed by an idea, activity, person, a story that you couldn’t stop thinking about it? Or maybe it is even more abstract than that. Maybe it is rather a quality that has a pull on you. This is the kind of fascination that is being explored in this post.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been intrigued by dreams. In elementary school age, I had some dreams that still leave me wondering what they meant, why they came up during this time and where they came from. It is a mystery. And I’m still fascinated by this mystery.

But why? What am I looking for in all this? This question is not about dreams, it is rather about why the fascination.

Without growing down I can’t grow up

Without growing down I can’t grow up

One of the great gifts of being in the Netherlands is that I’m able to spend some time with my two-year-old nephew before going back to Costa Rica. Obviously, he is not grown up, he is still down close to the ground, close to his soil and his roots.

A few days ago I stumbled upon this quote by C.G. Jung:

“Without the depths, I do not have the heights”

and my brain created connections with the common idea of growing up, the idea that higher is better, climbing up in the career and so on.

Almost everything in our society pointing upwards.  Not to honor spirit and consciousness, but rather to feed our own pride.

How Common Vision-Work Disguises the True Vision

How Common Vision-Work Disguises the True Vision

We might have a vision for life. We might know where we want to be in 5, 10 or 20, or 30… years from now. We have an understanding of how we want to feel, how our lifestyle will look like, our environment, the work we are doing and the people that are around us. We have values that serve as a pillar for our vision.

On a practical level, we know our vision well. But is this all that would describe our life in the future? Can vision or life be reduced to practical terms and still be fulfilling while living it or working towards it?

And let me ask two more questions: Do we know the vision on a metaphysical level? And why is this even important?
