An Intervention of the Soul.

It’s a great reset, an intervention of our soul.

Caught up in our daily business, it’s easy to find ourselves working on something that might not be what leaves us deeply satisfied and aligned with what we felt originally called to do. And often we only find out in hindsight that we are on the wrong track. A reset from time to time is needed. Stepping out of our ordinary world, entering a non-ordinary world, with the only intention to let something die and to let new life arise.

You have a source within, which is the soul, and it will express itself to you through what we call desire.
— James Hollis

Coming out of such experiences I recognized shifts in what I feel inspired by, a change of my guides, and what I’m interested in. It happened without my active participation, I just gave this space to let go and surrender. This experience was a good reminder that even with so much effort to keep me open and the attempt to listen to my soul I slipped onto a path that was rather a dead end. This answers a question that was occupying my mind for a couple of months, why so many bright and spiritual people still experience a midlife crisis? My theory is that its the lack of initiatory like rituals that create a non-ordinary experience with the only intention to realign the path you are on.

The non-ordinary can be anything that puts you out of your usual habits, and daily activities. It requires a new orientation as old patterns do not apply anymore. On a physical level, it means to leave the phone, laptop, books, and friends and family beside for a while. On a mental level, it means to not occupy your mind with your daily agenda and instead put the weight from it and focus on the present.

People in the second half of life must find ways to, in the felicitous phrase of Jung, ‘decently go unconscious’. We all require relief from the tension and burdens of ordinary consciousness, and it is natural to seek altered states.
— Johnson, Robert A.; Living Your Unlived Life

It’s about giving space for some readjustments that might want to emerge from your unconscious. It restructures what you believe, what you were holding onto and you will find gems that will bring you back on your soul’s mission.
Going on a long solo hike, a vision quest, traveling on your own, vipassana, fasting, a psychedelic journey or spending some days by yourself in silence and without distraction can allow you to bring new vitality to your mission and prevent you from focusing on the things that might not be yours.

This recent reset just showed me how important it is, especially during busy times, to take this time and consciously decide to reboot yourself.

That of which we are not aware, owns us.
