Edition #3: The quest that lies in each deep question & some other great content.

No one can answer the deeply rooted questions that lay inside of us. This is our quest(ion). No philosophy, no teacher, no book will be able to answer these for us. Every advice, every answer is an intellectual concept that might apply for them but not for us.

We have to find our own answer through deep listening, space and inquiry. The real depth of each philosophy can only be found in experience, beyond our intellect. Space is required. In space, we can drop in, and listen to our bodies and psyche. Learning of the last few month: giving myself more space.

I was looking outside to find the next steps, even though my next step was right in front of my face.

We are nature and in us, there are processes that support us to thrive. That is what nature is always trying to do: thrive. Nature needs space, but so often we block it, we block the natural process.

But what if we allow the natural process to take place? To trust in the self-organizing consciousness. That doesn't mean that we get lazy, the opposite is true. We will intuitively step into what is needed to prosper in life and leave laziness and comfort behind.

To keep the awareness, to recognize the next steps and take them is the challenge here.

Journeys to the Edge of Consciousness

Three psychedelic trips, by Timothy Leary, Aldous Huxley and Alan Watts made into an animated movie.

Sixty years later these historic trips were discussed with leading current thinkers - including Gabor Maté, Graham Hancock, Dennis McKenna and Rick Doblin - asking the question: "What can expanded states of mind teach us about ourselves, the world and our place in it?"

The visuals are reason enough to watch the documentary, and on top you get these great minds that comment on the trips.

Read

King, Warrior, Magician, Lover: Rediscovering the Archetypes of the Mature Masculine by Robert Moore & Douglas Gillette

This one is a re-read. After three years, I decided to read it again. It's a great book, not only for men but also for women. It supports in creating a better understanding of the psyche of men and the shadow of patriarchy. I found this work incredibly refreshing. Even while reading it a second time. Especially in these times when we have a distorted view of what it means to be mature/adult and be a man.

Quote

“Each of us has an image of what we think we are or what we should be, and that image, that picture, entirely prevents us from seeing ourselves as we actually are.”
